Veteran television actress Rinku Dhawan has officially joined the cast of the immensely popular show 'Anupamaa', marking a significant new chapter in her career. In an exclusive interview, she described this move as a refreshing new beginning, signaling the end of what she felt was a long-standing jinx in her professional life.
A Long-Awaited Collaboration
The driving force behind Rinku Dhawan's immediate 'yes' to the show was producer Rajan Shahi. She revealed that she had been wanting to work with him for nearly two decades. "Finally, the wait is over—I feel the jinx has broken," she told IANS. "The minute I got a call from his team, I just knew I was saying yes." She expressed feeling blessed to be part of such a beloved series and hopes to do justice to the opportunity.
Meet Rajni: A Layered Politician
Dhawan steps into the role of Rajni, a politician and Anupamaa's childhood friend. She described her character as practical, worldly-wise, and deeply loving towards her people, but with a clear priority for herself. "That's what makes her layered and interesting," the actress, famous for her role in 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', explained. The narrative will see Anupamaa's heart overflow with joy as she reunites with her old school friend, planning a surprise birthday celebration filled with love, fun, and nostalgic laughter.
Seamless Integration into the Anupamaa Family
Interestingly, Rinku Dhawan shared that she did not undertake any special preparation for this role. "The team explained every detail of the character very minutely, and thanks to director Romesh ji and his associates for guiding me through everything," she stated. She also shed light on her history with co-star Rupali Ganguly, noting that while they were both in 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', they never actually shared the screen. Praising the current team, she said, "It's a lovely team. I was told most of them have been working with DKP since the show began—that itself shows the clarity they have. And that's exactly what they give you."
With Rinku Dhawan's entry as the dynamic Rajni, the show promises to bring new twists and heartfelt moments for its audience, while Rupali Ganguly continues to lead as the beloved Anupamaa.
