The latest episode of the beloved quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 turned into a delightful reunion and a friendly battle for the hot seat. The star-studded episode featured the talented cast of the series Happy Patel – Vir Das, Mithila Palkar, and Sharib Hashmi – alongside the iconic host, Amitabh Bachchan.
The Friendly Fight for the Hot Seat
The episode began with light-hearted chaos as Vir, Mithila, and Sharib playfully argued over who would get the chance to sit in the coveted chair. The competition intensified when actress Mona Singh made a surprise entrance, sending the studio audience into a frenzy with cheers for her iconic character, 'Jassi' from Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin.
With four celebrities now vying for one spot, host Amitabh Bachchan posed the dilemma. Mona Singh, asserting her connection to the channel, declared with a smile, "Sir, this channel is like my maternal home. It's a homecoming for me. So, I will sit on the hot seat. These three can decide among themselves." After some mutual discussion and agreement, it was finally decided that Mona Singh and Vir Das would take the hot seat together.
Unforgettable Encounters and Personal Revelations
Once seated, Vir Das shared a precious memory from his early career. Before finding fame as a comedian, he worked as a writer for award shows. After five years, he got a chance to perform a five-minute act on stage. Backstage, he had a fleeting encounter with Amitabh Bachchan, who simply told him, "Very funny." Vir emotionally recalled, "I froze. No sound came out of my mouth. Those two words from you, sir, mean everything for a small artist."
Mona Singh revealed her personal connection to the show, sharing that her father is a massive fan who had tried calling the KBC hotline multiple times in the past. When she told her family about her KBC appearance, they jokingly teased her, saying, "You didn't even study much!" Mona also playfully pulled her elder sister's leg, noting that despite her sister's many degrees, it was Mona who landed on the KBC stage.
Jassi's Journey and A Charitable Pledge
Interacting with the audience, Mona opened up about her struggling days and her breakthrough role as Jassi. She revealed her acting dream was a conscious choice, not an accident. "I used to perform in front of the mirror with my mother's dupatta," she said. With no film industry background, many wondered about her future.
She detailed her relentless pursuit: "I would take the bus from Pune to Mumbai every day for auditions, get off at Dadar, audition at Famous Studios, and catch an evening bus back to Pune." For Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, she gave a staggering around 50 auditions before being finalized for the landmark show. She credited her father's regiment motto, '104 Sada Tayar' (Always Ready), as her life's philosophy.
Both Mona and Vir announced they would be donating their winnings to Aamir Khan's charity foundation 'Paani'. When Big B mentioned Aamir also produced their show, Vir quipped, "Sir, I am also his charity." The episode was a perfect blend of nostalgia, inspiration, and the quintessential KBC warmth, leaving the audience both entertained and moved.
