Digvijay Purohit Reveals Why 'Tu Juliet Jatt Di' is a Break from Typical Daily Soaps
Digvijay Purohit on His Role in 'Tu Juliet Jatt Di'

Television actor Digvijay Purohit, known for his work in popular shows like Na Aana Is Des Laado, Balika Vadhu, and Baatein Kuch Ankahi Si, is currently captivating audiences with his portrayal of Dalip in the new series Tu Juliet Jatt Di. The show, produced by the dynamic duo Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey under their banner Dreamiyata, is being hailed by the actor as a refreshing departure from the stereotypical daily soap format.

A Script That Felt Different and Refreshing

In a recent conversation, Digvijay Purohit shared his initial impressions of the project. He emphasized that the script of Tu Juliet Jatt Di felt immediately unique. "When I read the first few episodes, they did not look like typical daily soaps," he stated. The actor was drawn to the modern and relatable characters, along with dialogues that sounded natural, avoiding the dramatic excess often associated with the genre. He credited the production house's track record of creating unique content for giving him confidence in the venture.

Connecting with the Realistic Family Dynamics

Purohit finds his character, Dalip, deeply relatable. He explained that the show portrays authentic dynamics between a father, mother, and son—a scenario mirrored in countless Indian households. "In my character’s world, the mother pampers the son a lot, and because of that, society sees him as a little spoiled. The father is a bit strict and wants discipline," he described. These small frictions, which he has witnessed in real life, including his own home, allowed him to connect with the role instantly. He revealed that as the narrative progresses, different layers of Dalip will unfold in interesting ways, showcasing a father who loves his son deeply but is firm in his principles, even when the whole family is against him.

A Natural Approach and a Punjabi Cultural Immersion

Interestingly, the actor did not undertake any specific training for this role. Instead, he relied on a careful reading of the well-written script. The dialogue delivery is in Hindi, peppered with modern English, reflecting contemporary speech patterns. Purohit highlighted that the overall shooting style, scenes, and performances are kept natural and subtle, supported by a young and energetic cast.

A significant and enjoyable aspect for him has been the immersion in Punjabi culture. While he has played Punjabi characters before, shooting in Chandigarh with a predominantly Punjabi cast offered a first-hand, deeper experience. "Here, the entire cast is Punjabi, and in the upcoming episodes, we will be celebrating Punjabi culture in many ways," he shared, expressing his love for the food, festivals, and vibrant vibe.

He also praised his co-star Sangeeta, calling her a seasoned actress and a wonderful performer, and noted that their on-screen chemistry is already being appreciated. With a positive and hardworking set environment, Digvijay Purohit is optimistic that Tu Juliet Jatt Di will stand out and resonate strongly with the audience, offering them a distinct viewing experience.
