Following the veteran actor's passing, Scott shared a lengthy blog post detailing his experiences working with Keating and the rest of the cast. He revealed that he had envisioned a different ending for the audio series compared to the television show's finale. 'Blake 7' ended abruptly with its final episode, shocking fans by killing off the entire space crew. In his blog, Scott wrote: 'My original plans for Blake's 7 were scuppered by various behind-the-scenes shenanigans.' He explained that the audiobook was intended to follow seasons 1, 2, and 3, but his role as producer changed the trajectory.

Scott elaborated: 'Vila would have been revealed as one of the only survivors of the massacre at the end of Blake, having played dead among the corpses of his shipmates. He would have started a new life for himself, on a distant colony, crafting a new identity, although his carefully constructed—and eminently safe—lifestyle would have been rocked when someone from his past turned up on his doorstep.' Scott aimed to breathe new life into Keating's character, giving fans the satisfying continuation they had hoped for.
