Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! Transitions to Digital Platform After 10-Year Run
After a decade of entertaining audiences, the beloved Indian comedy series Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! is making a significant shift to the digital realm. Actor Aasif Sheikh, who portrays the iconic character Vibhuti Narayan Mishra, has officially confirmed that the show is moving to an OTT platform, putting to rest widespread rumors about its potential cancellation.
Addressing the Off-Air Speculation
In a recent interview with Variety India, Aasif Sheikh directly responded to the swirling reports suggesting the show might go off air, particularly amid talks of a possible shutdown of the &TV channel. "Yes, Bhabiji is being moved to the OTT platform of Z5. This is what all of us (the cast and crew) knows," Sheikh stated. He further clarified, "I am unaware of the media reports going around currently but we were informed of the shift to the digital platform a month back."
Embracing the Future of Viewing
Sheikh has expressed enthusiasm for this transition, highlighting the evolving landscape of entertainment consumption. In an earlier conversation with News18, he shared his perspective: "I am cool with the show being shifted to a streaming platform. This is the future of viewing. What is important is that people are watching the show." He emphasized the convenience factor, noting, "Nowadays, people work long hours and also commute a lot for travel. Mobile screens make their favorite shows more accessible to them as per their convenience."
A Decade of Success and Recent Developments
Premiering in 2015, Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! has cemented its status as one of India's most popular comedy programs. The show recently underwent a major revamp, leading to the launch of Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain 2.0. This update saw the return of original Angoori Bhabhi, Shilpa Shinde, after a 10-year absence, replacing Shubhangi Atre earlier this year.
Additionally, the franchise expanded with the release of the film Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain: Fun on the Run in February 2026. The movie featured a star-studded cast including:
- Aasif Sheikh
- Shubhangi Atre
- Ravi Kishan
- Vidisha Srivastava
- Rohitashav Gaur
This move to an OTT platform marks a new chapter for the long-running series, ensuring its continued accessibility to fans in the digital age.
