Kolkata: Veteran Bengali actor and renowned elocutionist Biplab Dasgupta, celebrated for his roles in films such as 'Baishey Shraban', 'Gumnaami', and 'Zulfiqar', passed away here on Friday after a prolonged illness. He was 75.
Final Moments
Family members reported that Dasgupta, who had been experiencing post-operative complications for some time, complained of uneasiness at his Golf Club Road residence in Tollygunje. He breathed his last while being taken to a hospital.
Health Struggles
Dasgupta had been ailing following a prostate operation some time ago. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
Television Acclaim
Beyond cinema, Dasgupta earned acclaim in popular TV serials such as 'Chemistry Mashi', 'Jogomaya and Checkmate', and 'Bosepukur Khunkharapi', among others.

As his body was taken to the Technicians Studio, members of the film, television, and OTT fraternity paid their last respects, honoring his contributions to Bengali entertainment.
