TVK Chief Vijay Visits Tiruchendur Temple
Tuticorin: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay visited the Subramanya Swami Temple in Tiruchendur on Tuesday and offered his prayers. He arrived at the Madurai International Airport during the early hours of Tuesday and headed straight to Tiruchendur.
Clad in a traditional silk dhoti and shirt, Vijay arrived at the temple in the morning. He travelled to the seashore in a battery-operated car to dip his feet in the water, and then proceeded to offer worship to the deity. Vijay was accorded a ceremonial welcome with ‘Poorna Kumbha' honours from the temple authorities.
Subsequently, holding a ‘vel' presented to him by party functionaries, he proceeded to the temple to worship Lord Murugan. He participated in the ‘Viswaroopa Darshan' — the early morning ritual viewing of the deity — which took place after the temple doors opened at 5am. Seated on the floor directly in front of the sanctum of the presiding deity, he engaged in heartfelt prayer. Continuing his worship, he participated in a ‘Shatru Samhara Puja' at the shrine of ‘Surasamhara Moorthy'.
More than 200 people, comprising members of the TVK, gathered within the temple complex. After travelling by road from Tiruchendur to the Tuticorin airport, he departed for Chennai aboard a private aircraft. Heavy police security was deployed at the airport in anticipation of Vijay's arrival. Furthermore, a crowd of fans gathered at the airport to catch a glimpse of him.
To manage the overwhelming crowd and ensure safety, a heavy police force was deployed. In front of the temple precinct, more than 100 police personnel set up barricades and were engaged in security duty. Public darshan and special darshan were temporarily suspended for security reasons until Vijay left the temple.
