Popular Telugu filmmaker and actor Tharun Bhascker is steadily building an impressive portfolio of lead roles. After making a successful debut as a protagonist with Meeku Maathrame Cheptha, and with projects like Om Shanti Shanti Shantihi and an untitled film in the works, he has now officially boarded a fresh venture.
Crazy Kalyanam: A Rural Family Entertainer
Tharun will headline the upcoming rural romantic comedy titled Crazy Kalyanam. This project marks a significant first-time collaboration with actress Anupama Parameshwaran. The film's director, Badrappa Gajula, describes it as a wholesome family entertainer deeply rooted in a rustic setting.
"Crazy Kalyanam is a family entertainer set in a rural backdrop," confirmed director Badrappa Gajula. He revealed that a major portion of the film has already been shot on location in the Medak district of Telangana, aiming to capture an authentic atmosphere.
Authentic Telangana Flavour and Dialect
Emphasising the commitment to regional authenticity, the director highlighted that Tharun Bhascker will be seen speaking in a distinct rural Telangana accent throughout the movie. This deliberate choice is expected to add depth and realism to his character and the film's narrative.
The effort for genuine portrayal extends to the female lead as well. Speaking about Anupama Parameshwaran's preparation, Badrappa Gajula shared, "She underwent workshops to understand the nuances and body language of rural Telangana girls." He further praised her adaptation, noting, "She has adapted well to the dialect and will be dubbing for her role herself," which is a testament to her dedication to the part.
Expanding a Versatile Career
This new signing underscores Tharun Bhascker's growing stature as a versatile lead actor in Tollywood. While he continues his work behind the camera as a director, his choices in front of it demonstrate a clear strategy to pick diverse and character-driven roles. Crazy Kalyanam, with its rural romantic-comedy premise and focus on local culture, fits perfectly into this expanding repertoire.
The film is poised to offer audiences a blend of humour, romance, and family values, all wrapped in the vibrant and authentic canvas of rural Telangana. With both leads immersing themselves in the local dialect and culture, the project is eagerly awaited by fans of regional cinema and those who appreciate stories grounded in specific Indian landscapes.
