Actor Matt Damon is set to portray Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca, in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film The Odyssey. He has described the project as the most challenging movie of his career.
No Green Screens, All Real
Damon shared that director Christopher Nolan avoids using green screens and prefers to keep everything authentic. In an Instagram clip posted by animal advocacy site The Dodo on Saturday, Damon stated, 'It was by far the hardest movie I've ever made. Chris likes to shoot everything real. So there's no kind of green screen, no faking it, no kind of studio stuff.'
Cast and Release Date
The film, scheduled for release on July 17, features a star-studded cast including Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong'o, Anne Hathaway, and Charlize Theron. The story follows King Odysseus (Damon) on a perilous 10-year journey home after the Trojan War. Beset by vengeful gods, sea monsters, and enchantresses, he fights to reunite with his wife, Penelope (Hathaway), and son, Telemachus (Holland).
The Odyssey is produced under Syncopy Inc and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film promises to be a visually stunning and authentic epic, staying true to Nolan's signature style of practical effects and immersive storytelling.
