Sudha Kongara Blames Jana Nayagan Delay for Parasakthi Social Media Attacks
Director Accuses Fans of Trolling Parasakthi Over Jana Nayagan Delay

The Pongal festival season brought unexpected drama to Tamil cinema this year. Vijay Thalapathy's much-anticipated film 'Jana Nayagan' failed to hit theaters as planned. It was supposed to compete directly with Sivakarthikeyan's 'Parasakthi'. However, 'Jana Nayagan' got tangled in censor board issues, while 'Parasakthi' managed to release after receiving its certification with only minor adjustments.

Director Points Finger at Fan Frustration

In a recent interview, 'Parasakthi' director Sudha Kongara made serious accusations. She claims her film is facing organized character assassination on social media platforms. Kongara believes the negative campaign stems directly from fan disappointment over 'Jana Nayagan's delayed release.

"The bad mood among fans about 'Jana Nayagan' not releasing has turned into attacks on our film," Kongara stated clearly. "Using one film's postponement as reason to attack another is terrible for our industry."

Festival Release Creates Uneven Playing Field

Audiences had eagerly awaited Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' during the Pongal holiday period. When it didn't materialize, 'Parasakthi' received wider theater distribution by default. The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer found warm reception from moviegoers who still wanted their Pongal cinema experience.

Kongara suggests this situation explains the surge in online trolling against her film. She expressed particular concern about anonymous social media accounts spreading malicious content systematically.

Anonymous Trolling Draws Strong Condemnation

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter India, Kongara didn't mince words about the harassment. She referenced one particularly disturbing social media post allegedly from a Vijay fan. The post suggested that getting a censor certificate wasn't significant - what really mattered was obtaining a "forgiveness certificate" from Vijay's fan base.

"These remarks are deeply disturbing," Kongara emphasized. "This kind of bullying has no place in our industry or in public life. We need to stand together against this mob-like behavior."

Box Office Performance Defies Online Negativity

Despite the social media storm, 'Parasakthi' maintains steady box office numbers. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film recorded decent collections in its first two days. With Pongal holidays continuing, prospects for increased earnings remain strong.

Kongara maintains clear principles about industry competition. She firmly believes no film should succeed because another failed. "Only respect, justice, and healthy competition can move our film industry forward," she asserted. "That benefits everyone involved."

The director's comments highlight growing concerns about fan wars impacting Tamil cinema's creative environment. As films increasingly become subjects of online campaigns, industry veterans like Kongara are calling for more responsible engagement from all stakeholders.
