Chris Evans Joins 'My Darling California' Crime-Thriller Cast

Hollywood actor Chris Evans has officially joined the cast of writer-director Elijah Bynum's upcoming crime-thriller 'My Darling California'. While details about Evans' character remain under wraps, the 'Avengers' star will appear alongside Jessica Chastain, Chris Pine, Mikey Madison, Charles Melton, and Don Cheadle, as reported by Deadline.

Plot and Setting

'My Darling California' is set in Los Angeles in 1980. The story follows how a single crime intertwines the lives of a TV host, his restless wife, a country music idol, two small-time crooks, and an ex-convict, all of whom are chasing a better life.

Production Details

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in late summer or September. It will be financed by Anton, which will also co-represent the film alongside CAA Media Finance for US and global rights. The producers are David Hinojosa, Alex Coco, and Sebastien Reybaud, with Zach Nutman serving as executive producer.

Chris Evans' Upcoming Projects

Currently, Chris Evans is preparing for the release of the highly anticipated 'Avengers: Doomsday', where he will reprise his iconic role as Captain America. Earlier this month, the first full-length trailer was unveiled at CinemaCon.

Trailer Highlights

According to Variety, the trailer begins with Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, clad in a green hood and metal face, preparing to invade the multiverse. It shows Professor Xavier (Patrick Stewart) looking out his X-Mansion window as a bright flash signals trouble. The trailer features crossovers including Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) battling, Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) transforming into Yelena Belova leading to a fight between Florence Pugh and herself, and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) facing Doom, who catches Mjolnir with his bare hands.

The biggest highlight is Chris Evans' Steve Rogers making a triumphant return and reuniting with Thor, who is shocked since Cap had gone back in time to grow old with Peggy Carter in 'Endgame'.

Directors and Release

Joe and Anthony Russo are directing 'Doomsday' and the 2027 sequel 'Avengers: Secret Wars', which will conclude the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. 'Doomsday' is set to hit theaters on December 18.
