Two women strangled in Patna, dowry deaths registered

Patna: Two women were allegedly murdered by strangulation in separate incidents under the Danapur police station area on Tuesday, prompting police to register dowry death cases following complaints from the victims’ families.

First Incident

According to police sources, the first incident took place near a private hospital on New Mainpura Road, where a woman was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws. Police said the accused attempted to conceal the body after the murder. The deceased, Julie Singh of Bidupur in Vaishali district, was married to Manoranjan Singh, a loco pilot from Azimabad in Bhojpur district. Danapur-I SDPO Shivam Dhakad said police recovered the body after informing the victim’s father and later sent it for post-mortem examination.

Second Incident

In the second incident, 29-year-old Champa Devi of Bibiganj was allegedly strangled to death by her husband and in-laws. Following a written complaint by the victim’s mother, police recovered the body and registered another case.

Investigation Details

Shivam said preliminary investigation in both cases pointed towards disputes linked to personal loans and dowry demands. “Police teams and the FSL unit are collecting evidence, while raids are underway to arrest the accused,” he added.
