According to a police officer, the woman, a resident of Dhalai district, came into contact with the accused around three months ago through social media. The accused owned two mobile phone shops in Agartala and regularly chatted with the victim online.

The officer stated that the accused lured the woman with the promise of gifting her an iPhone. Believing his assurances, she agreed to meet him. During the meeting, the accused allegedly raped her. The woman later reported the crime to the authorities.

Arrest and Investigation
