Taylor Swift's Secret Acts of Kindness: Paying Bills and Bonuses

Beyond her iconic music and upcoming marriage to NFL player Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift is well known for her acts of kindness and philanthropic efforts. Over the years, numerous reports have surfaced about how the singer has been giving back to the community or lending a helping hand to struggling fans.

Taylor Swift Lends a Helping Hand to Struggling Fans

Time and again, fans have reported that the singer helped them with bills and other payments. One notable instance involved a student from Toronto who was studying at the University of Waterloo in 2019 and dealing with crushing student loan debt. Without much notice, the singer transferred USD 4,800 to the student's account. The fan had earlier posted about her struggles and included her account information. While appearing on 'Good Morning America,' the fan shared her experience: 'You know how you vent online? And you don't imagine Taylor Swift is going to see it -- it just doesn't happen. I honestly had no idea that she was going to see it. I was just shook.'

When Taylor Swift Helped Her Fans with Medical Bills

In the same year, she quietly donated around USD 10,000 for a fan's medical bills. At that time, Trinity Foster had been diagnosed with stage four osteosarcoma and had posted about a funding page to help with treatment costs. Swift saw photos of Foster holding a listening party for one of her albums and came across her plight. In 2018, she also quietly paid USD 15,500 for a fan struggling with medical bills. The fan had posted about her situation on social media, revealing that her mother was in a coma and that the family was struggling to make ends meet. Swift donated to her funding page and signed off with 'Love, Taylor, Meredith, and Olivia Swift.'

When Taylor Swift Extended Her Support to Staff Members and Truck Drivers

Swift rarely advertises such acts, and they almost always come to light only when someone posts about the payment or a news outlet breaks the story. Last year, around Christmas time, Swift visited Arrowhead Stadium to watch the Kansas City Chiefs and her fiancé, Travis Kelce, play. After the game, the couple interacted with many staff members and gave tips worth USD 600 to each. Robyn Gentry, one of the staff members, posted about the matter online, and it went viral. Additionally, after her extremely successful 'Eras Tour' ended, Swift showed her appreciation by handing out gifts and bonuses to everyone involved. Reportedly, her truck drivers received bonuses worth USD 100,000 each. PEOPLE confirmed that she gave bonuses to all crew members, including backstage crew and onstage dancers. The singer spent around USD 197 million on bonuses alone. She also talked about 'bonus day' during her six-part docuseries documenting her 'Eras Tour' journey. She stated, 'A bonus day is so important, because setting a precedent with the Eras Tour is really important to me -- because people who work on the road, if the tour grosses more, they get more of a bonus. These people just work so hard, and they are the best at what they do.'
