Background of the Kapur Family Dispute

The arrest comes amid an escalating legal battle within the Kapur family over Sunjay Kapur's estate and will. On Tuesday, Sunjay Kapur's mother approached the Supreme Court with a fresh plea seeking directions to restrain Priya Sachdev Kapur and certain others from interfering in the functioning of the 'RK Family Trust' until mediation proceedings initiated by the apex court on May 7 are completed. She also sought a stay on a board meeting scheduled for May 18 by Raghuvanshi Investment Private Limited, which reportedly controls a substantial portion of the disputed family assets.

The dispute, said to involve assets worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore, is continuing before the High Court, with interim orders currently preserving the estate pending final adjudication.

Sunjay Kapur's Death

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar and former husband of actress Karisma Kapoor, died in London on June 12 while playing polo. Medical findings later confirmed that his death was natural and linked to cardiac-related complications.

This incident highlights the intersection of social media influence, legal proceedings, and high-profile family disputes in India.
