As temperatures continue to rise each year, actress Shubhangi Atre, known for her roles in shows like Do Hanson Ka Jodaa, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain, shares her personal strategies for coping with extreme heat and emphasizes the growing need to stay connected with nature.
Daily Summer Routine
Discussing her daily routine during the summer months, Atre says, "First of all, it is very hot and yes, it is unbearable, but I think keeping yourself hydrated is the key." She advocates for simple, natural choices. "Have a lot of watermelons and coconut water. If you are going out, use an umbrella. These small things really help," she shares.
Importance of Nature and Giving Back
A self-proclaimed nature lover, Atre highlights the responsibility each individual has toward the environment. "I feel planting trees is everyone's responsibility. It is very, very important to conserve our nature," she stresses.
Natural Summer Essentials
Her go-to summer routine revolves around basic, natural products. "Coconut water, lemon, and all natural things are the best. And of course, a lot of sunscreen if you step out," she adds.
Traditional Remedies
Atre also turns to traditional Indian remedies to beat the heat. "Sattu is the best cooler. I have sattu with cumin powder, ice, lemon, and black salt. It really helps in beating the heat," she explains.
Roots and Regional Wisdom
Recalling her upbringing in Madhya Pradesh, where temperatures often exceed 40 degrees Celsius, she notes, "People there even carry onions to avoid heatstroke. It’s a traditional belief, but hydration and light, skin-friendly clothes are very important."
Climate Change Concerns
Atre expresses deep concern over changing climate patterns. "Yes, summers are getting worse because the climate is changing drastically," she says. She criticizes harmful human activities: "The way people throw garbage in rivers and cut trees is very wrong. What will we leave for the next generation?"
Unusual Weather Patterns
Reacting to unexpected weather phenomena like unseasonal snowfall, she remarks, "It is scary. We are creating problems for our future generations."
Strong Message for All
Ending with a powerful call to action, she urges, "Plant trees, save rivers, use less plastic. The more we keep Mother Earth green, the more we will protect ourselves."
