Veteran Journalist K Govindan Kutty Passes Away at 81 in Thiruvananthapuram

Senior journalist K Govindan Kutty, affectionately known as KGK in journalistic circles, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 81. He died at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where he had been ailing for the past few months. He is survived by his wife Saradamony, a son, and a daughter. Distinguished Career in Journalism

Govindan Kutty began his illustrious career with All India Radio before transitioning to print journalism, where he worked with various national publications. He reported on numerous high-profile news stories that garnered attention at both the national and state levels. One of his most notable achievements was being the first to report the 1977 crash of a plane carrying then Prime Minister Morarji Desai. He had been traveling with the Prime Minister on the same flight to cover Desai's visit to the Northeast region.

Beyond his reporting, Govindan Kutty was a prolific author, having written 10 books in both English and Malayalam. His major works include:

  • 'Kalakshepam' (Time Pass): A notable work in Malayalam.
