Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen share a warm bond even today, but their first encounter on the sets of the film 'Biwi No. 1' did not start off on a smooth note. In a past interview, Salman recalled that Sushmita walked away from him after he arrived late for the shoot. The actor admitted he was taken aback by her reaction, as it was their first meeting. However, the moment later turned into a lighthearted memory between the two stars, who eventually worked together on multiple films.
Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen's First Meeting
In an earlier interview with ETimes, Salman Khan recounted the incident when Sushmita Sen appeared as a guest on the show 'Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai', hosted by the late Farooque Shaikh. Salman explained that he arrived on set late, while Sushmita had been waiting since morning. "One day I turn up late on sets, on the first day of shooting, at 11 o'clock. Sushmita Sen was there since 9 o'clock in the morning. So the moment I went to the sets and said 'Hi Sush' - that was the first time I was meeting Sush - 'Hi Sush, how are you Sush? Salman'. And she just shakes my hand, she does 'huh' and she walks away," Salman recalled.
The reaction left Salman confused. He then turned to director David Dhawan and asked, "What's her problem, man? Why's she giving me attitude?"
Salman Khan and Sushmita Sen's Bond
The awkward start did not affect their long-term relationship. Salman later praised Sushmita on the same show. The two actors worked together in 'Biwi No. 1' and later collaborated on films such as 'Maine Pyaar Kyu Kiya' and 'Tumko Na Bhool Payenge'. Their friendship extended beyond film sets. Sushmita was once seen dancing with and hugging Salman at his birthday party. Salman also cheered for her after the release of 'Aarya 2', writing, "Arre wah (Wow) Sush, how nice you looking ya. Totally killing it. So happy for you."
Today, the two share a warm camaraderie, proving that even awkward beginnings can lead to lasting friendships in Bollywood.
