Saisha Shinde Reveals How Mugdha Godse Helped Her Style Priyanka Chopra in Fashion
Saisha Shinde Shares Behind-the-Scenes Story from Film Fashion

Indian fashion designer Saisha Shinde recently took a nostalgic trip down memory lane and shared a fascinating behind-the-scenes story from the iconic Indian film 'Fashion'. In a candid throwback, Saisha revealed how an unexpected lead in the film helped her secure the opportunity to style Priyanka Chopra, a pivotal moment that boosted her career.

In an Instagram post shared by Saisha, she featured a series of pictures from the sets of 'Fashion' where she detailed Priyanka's looks. According to the designer, Priyanka wore two of her spring 2008 collection dresses in the film. One of these dresses was showcased at Lakme Fashion Week by model and actress Mugdha Godse, who was the industry connection that helped Saisha get this opportunity.

She revealed the story in the caption, writing: 'THE STORY: I owe a good part of what came after to one question from a friend. @mugdhagodse was one of my favourite girls to send down a runway. She knew the clothes; she believed in them. And one afternoon, while a film called Fashion was shooting, she asked me something simple: would I be open to my work being in it? I said yes before she'd finished the sentence.' This was followed by the styling team visiting the designer's office and selecting the two looks. She added, 'Then they said the sentence every young designer waits to hear: these have to be on Priyanka.' And just like that, the deal was done.

Saisha also appreciated the stylists for giving her this opportunity and recalled: 'I think about their part in this more than they probably know. I was three seasons old. Barely a name. A stylist decides who gets seen and who doesn't; that is real power, and they chose to spend a little of theirs on a young designer who hadn't earned it yet. I have never forgotten the generosity in that.'

Experience of Working with Priyanka Chopra Jonas

The designer recalled that the actress was one of her favourites then and still is. The two dresses that Priyanka wore were from Saisha's 'Untitled' collection. One was an off-the-runway olive-green floor-length gown, which was turned into a yellow piece for the film. The second was a silver halter mini dress decked with zardozi stitched knitting, which was shown off by Sonalli Sehgal on the runway. Saisha did not forget to thank Mugdha Godse, one of the leading faces of the film, for this opportunity. She wrote: 'Here's the part I love most. The friend who opened the door never wore a single piece in the film herself and never asked to. She simply handed me the moment and stepped back. In the years after, Mugdha became one of my muses and wore so much of my work, but right then, she gave and asked for nothing.'

As fans revisit the glam world of 'Fashion' with this post, Saisha's story adds a fresh layer to the film's enduring legacy and offers a glimpse into a journey that still holds such a beautiful memory.
