Actor Prateik Babbar recently became emotional while remembering his late mother, legendary actress Smita Patil. In the early hours of Thursday, he took to social media to share a nostalgic tribute, posting a collage of two pictures that highlighted their striking resemblance.
The Emotional Post
The first picture featured Smita Patil from her younger days, posing confidently in a vintage frame, radiating her quintessential grace and bold attitude. The second picture showed Prateik in a denim look, casually posing for the camera, mirroring his mother's style. He captioned the post, "got it from my mf'n mama."
A Look Back at Smita Patil's Legacy
Smita Patil, a celebrated figure in Indian cinema, passed away on December 13, 1986, at the age of 31 due to complications following childbirth. Her untimely demise sent shockwaves across the country. Prateik was born on November 28, 1986, just weeks before her death.
Smita and Raj Babbar's relationship had often made headlines, especially since Raj was already married to theatre artist Nadira Babbar when he fell in love with Smita. Nadira and Raj are parents to actors Arya Babbar and Juhi Babbar.
Prateik's Relationship with His Father
Over the years, Prateik has openly spoken about his complicated relationship with his father, Raj Babbar, and how he grew up away from him. He was largely raised by his maternal grandparents and extended family, often sharing how the absence of his mother made his childhood emotionally difficult.
Raj Babbar's Tribute
Raj Babbar has also expressed his emotions for his late wife on important occasions. On Smita Patil's death anniversary a few months ago, he shared an emotional post on social media. He wrote, "What made #SmitaPatil a truly great actor was the same quality that defined her off-screen - she was extraordinarily good. Her profound empathy captured the struggles of common people transforming simple stories into soul-stirring anthems for justice. She graced us for so little time, yet countless hearts still resonate with her essence." He added, "You gave us so little time to know you. This mystery shall forever remain unexplained. Remembering Smita on her Punyatithi."
