Mirren Backs Hardy Amid MobLand Rumors

Helen Mirren has dismissed rumors of discord with her MobLand co-star Tom Hardy, following reports that Hardy clashed with producers and faced an uncertain future on the Paramount+ crime drama. The Oscar-winning actress praised Hardy in a recent interview, stating she would work with him again without hesitation. Her comments come after weeks of speculation about on-set friction, including late arrivals, script disputes, and claims that Hardy had been fired from the series.

Helen Mirren Backs Tom Hardy Amid MobLand Rumors

ComicBookMovie reported that Mirren first publicly supported Hardy on social media after rumors of his departure spread. The site ActionNewz.com noted that she posted a photo of Hardy with the caption, “Love you now and always.” Mirren later addressed the claims more directly in comments to Variety. When asked if she would work with Hardy again if MobLand returned for a third season, she replied, “Absolutely. In a [frick]ing heartbeat.”

“I love Tom, I think he’s the most amazing actor,” Mirren told Variety. “Different actors have different processes. I’ve learnt over the years that some people get to things faster. As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there. Tom is a very special person. I think he’s absolutely remarkable. My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.”

Tom Hardy's Future on MobLand Remains Fluid

The rumors began after industry insider Matt Belloni at Puck claimed Hardy had been fired from MobLand following repeated clashes with producers. The allegations included lateness, unwanted script notes, and changes to dialogue. Variety later reported that Hardy had not actually been fired, though it confirmed he had clashed with producers. The outlet also noted that discussions were underway to find a way for Hardy to return as gangster fixer Harry Da Souza.

A source quoted by Variety claimed, “He refused to come out of his trailer for hours at a time. He kept the cast waiting, [which is] a power play. Keeping Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren and others waiting is career suicide, I would wager.”

MobLand stars Hardy, Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and Paddy Considine. The Paramount+ series premiered last spring and became the streamer’s second most-watched series.
