A 30-year-old man, Guddu Kumar Singh, who had recently returned from Dubai, was shot dead in Jasauli village under Pachrukhi police station area of Siwan district late Tuesday night. The murder is suspected to have been carried out over his alleged illicit relationship with a married woman. After the murder, the accused ripped out the nail of his left toe, police said.
Background of the Victim
Guddu worked in Dubai and had come to Siwan about 25 days ago to attend to his ailing father. An FIR has been filed in this regard. According to family members, Guddu went to Patna on Tuesday morning with his younger brother to consult a doctor, and they returned to Siwan late in the evening. After reaching home, Guddu told his family that he was going to the market. Shortly after, a villager informed the family that Guddu was lying unconscious on the roadside.
Incident Details
His younger brother rushed to the spot and found Guddu bleeding from the head with a serious injury to his leg. He took him to the hospital on a bike, but doctors declared him dead after examination.
Police Investigation
Pachrukhi SHO, Pramod Kumar, said, “Police reached the spot after the incident and questioned local people. Preliminary investigations suggest that Guddu was allegedly in a relationship with a neighbouring married woman. The woman’s husband and family came to know about it, which led to a dispute. It is suspected that Guddu was killed over this enmity.”
He further stated that CCTV footage from the area is being examined. An FSL team has collected evidence from the crime spot. The body has been sent to a government hospital for postmortem.
“An FIR has been registered against the woman’s husband and other family members based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s family. Raids are being conducted to arrest suspects named by the family,” the SHO added.
