NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old makeup artist allegedly died by suicide in west Delhi's Nihal Vihar area, an official said on Wednesday.
According to police, a PCR call regarding the incident was received around 2.15 pm on May 26 at Nihal Vihar police station. The woman was found hanging in a room belonging to her friend and was immediately taken to Balaji Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Her body was later shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for post-mortem examination, which confirmed death due to ante-mortem hanging.
During the investigation, police recovered a suicide note from the spot in which she allegedly mentioned the involvement of a known person. Based on initial findings, police said they are in the process of registering a case of abetment to suicide.
The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
This incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many expressing grief and outrage. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the tragic event.
