Madalsa Sharma on Feminism, Marriage, and Mithun Chakraborty's Support
Madalsa Sharma on Feminism, Marriage, and Mithun's Support

Madalsa Sharma has shared her thoughts on feminism, marriage, and family dynamics in a recent interview, highlighting how support from her husband Mahaakshay Chakraborty and father-in-law Mithun Chakraborty has influenced both her personal and professional journey.

Feminism Begins at Home

Discussing how feminism manifests in her daily life, Madalsa emphasized that it starts within the family. "Touch wood, everybody is so well aware and so supportive when it comes to this. It basically gives me all the freedom because they understand—my in-laws, my father-in-law, my mother-in-law... everyone is very chilled and supportive," she told Hauterrfly.

Husband as a Pillar of Support

The actress credited her husband for being her biggest support system, especially given the demanding nature of television work. "After I got married, whatever work I’ve done—it’s only because of Mimoh. He has been so supportive. Shoots run late, pack-ups get delayed... otherwise it’s difficult. With daily soaps, you have to be on set for long hours every day. He’s been very, very supportive," she shared.

Mithun Chakraborty's Advice on Television

Madalsa revealed that Mithun Chakraborty encouraged her to pursue television, recognizing its vast reach. "He was the first person to tell me—‘Mithhi’, whenever a TV opportunity comes, you must go ahead because television has a very vast audience. After Anupamaa, the kind of fame and recognition I got—I didn’t get that even after doing 20–22 films," she said.

A Male Feminist

When asked if Mithun Chakraborty can be called a male feminist, Madalsa affirmed, "1000%. Absolutely. He doesn’t believe in these stereotypes—that a woman should dress a certain way, walk a certain way, marry by a certain age, have kids by a certain age, or change after marriage. Not at all. He’s exactly the opposite."

No Pressure on Having Children

Madalsa addressed societal and family pressure regarding children. "No, touch wood, there has been no pressure at all. It’s a couple’s personal choice. Nobody has ever pressured us about it. That freedom has always been there—that whenever you’re comfortable, you can think about it," she said, adding that such pressure can be "very difficult to handle."

A Destiny-Led Love Story

Opening up about her relationship, Madalsa revealed that her connection with Mimoh unfolded unexpectedly. "We met years ago at an event, just a quick hello. We stayed in touch as friends, and then almost 10 years later we reconnected. When the time is right, things just happen," she said. "We didn’t really date. It was more like—we are going to get married. Our courtship was barely a month or two, then we got engaged, and within six months we were married. I wasn’t even expecting it—it just felt like destiny."

Keeping It Private

Despite being public figures, the couple prefers to keep their relationship away from the spotlight. "We believe in keeping it very low profile. We make reels and click pictures, but when it comes to PDA or putting everything out there—we don’t believe in that. It’s a very private affair, and we like to keep it between us," Madalsa said. Summing up her equation at home, she reiterated, "It’s only because Mimoh has been so supportive—that really makes all the difference."
