India's Best Dancer has returned to the small screen with its fifth season, featuring a judging panel that includes Bollywood diva Karisma Kapoor, iconic dancer Javed Jaffery, and Geeta Kapur. The dance reality show is set to deliver a heartwarming dose of nostalgia in the upcoming episode as Karisma Kapoor revisits cherished memories from her iconic song "Goriya Chura Naa Meraa Jiya" from the film Coolie No. 1.
Contestant Anshika Dhara's Energetic Performance
After contestant Anshika Dhara delivered an energetic performance on the popular track, Karisma Kapoor was full of praise for the act. Sharing her thoughts, she said, "Aapke gaane ka jo flavour hai, jo essence hai, aapne rakha aur usmein ek modern twist bhi diya. Mujhe bahot maza aaya. It was an updated version of 'Goriya Chura Naa Meraa Jiya,' toh mujhe bahot behtar laga. Great choreography, great performance. Bahot hard work kiya hai aapne, aur woh clearly dikh raha hai. Well done to you and Rupesh. I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Karisma's Nostalgic Reflections
Karisma further reflected on her own memories associated with the song and revealed how young and nervous she was while shooting it with Govinda. She shared, "Aap sirf 16 saal ki hain, aur main us time par 17-18 saal ki thi. Mujhe Govinda ji ke saath dance karna tha. I remember especially in that song, it was one of the first or second dance numbers with Chi-Chi. Main bahot nervous thi aur Ganesh Acharya ke saath bhi mera pehla gaana tha, toh woh bhi ek naya combination tha."
Recalling the atmosphere on set, Karisma added, "Mujhe yaad hai David Dhawan mere paas aaye the aur kaha tha, 'You know, yeh bahot hi achhe choreographer hain, yeh naye Ganesh Master hain.' Woh bhi bahot shy feel kar rahe the aur main bhi bahot shy thi. Then he had to explain it to me and tell me, 'Look, you are dancing with Govinda, and this is an item song.'"
Hard Work Behind the Iconic Song
Karisma fondly remembered the hard work that went into creating the iconic song. The episode promises to be a treat for fans as they get a glimpse into the making of a Bollywood classic.
