A 35-year-old man from Akbarpur in Kanpur Dehat has married his 52-year-old mother-in-law after reportedly developing a close relationship with her, a decision that has ignited widespread discussion in the region. According to local residents, the man was married to the woman's daughter about a year ago, but his relationship with his mother-in-law gradually intensified over time. After the man's 27-year-old wife discovered the affair and confronted both individuals, the marriage reportedly broke down. The man and his mother-in-law subsequently solemnized a court marriage a few days ago, as per reports.

The matter came into the public eye after a video purportedly showing the couple surfaced on social media on Sunday and quickly went viral. In the footage, the pair can be seen wearing garlands, displaying what appears to be a marriage certificate, and claiming that they entered into the marriage with mutual consent. The video, said to have originated from the Akbarpur area, was shared with a caption claiming that the son-in-law had married his mother-in-law, accompanied by a song themed around court marriages.
