A hotel receptionist in Kanpur has accused her employer of raping her inside a hotel room under the pretense of turning on the air conditioner. The incident occurred in Singhpur under Bithoor police station limits. Police have registered a case based on her written complaint and are conducting raids to arrest the accused.
Details of the Incident
The 24-year-old victim, a resident of Kalyanpur, filed a First Information Report (FIR) alleging that on Monday afternoon, hotel operator Yuvraj Singh, a resident of Jorawar in Chaubepur, called her to a room to switch on the air conditioner. She claimed that he raped her inside the room. Following the assault, she approached the Bithoor police station and lodged a written complaint.
Police Investigation
Acting on her statement, police sent the woman for a medical examination and registered an FIR against the accused. Inspector Ashok Kumar Saroj of Bithoor police station stated that a report has been filed and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspect. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the accused is serving in the Indian Army.
Police are questioning the victim and other hotel staff, and their statements are being recorded. CCTV camera footage from the hotel is also being reviewed to gather evidence.
Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
