A fresh legal storm has hit the Kannada film industry as actor Dhanush Raj and his wife, Arshita, have lodged serious police complaints against each other. The Girinagar police in Bengaluru have registered First Information Reports (FIRs) from both sides and initiated an investigation into the cross-allegations of domestic violence, threats, and dowry demands.
Dhanush Raj's Allegations: Assault and Life Threats
According to reports, Dhanush Raj was the first to approach the authorities. The actor, known for his role in the film Shivaji Surathkal, accused his wife, Arshita, of physical assault, harassment, and issuing life threats. He claimed the conflict began when Arshita travelled abroad without informing him. When he confronted her about the trip, he alleged that she assaulted him.
Dhanush further stated that Arshita warned she would send goons to harm him. He also accused her of threatening to kill herself and blame him for it. To substantiate this claim, he alleged that she once injured herself deliberately by smashing her hand against a bathroom glass panel. The actor maintained he has been enduring her harassment and threats for a long period.
Arshita's Counter-Complaint: Dowry Harassment and Infidelity
In a swift counter-move, Arshita filed her complaint at the same police station. She presented a different narrative, accusing Dhanush Raj and his family of dowry harassment, physical assault, and emotional abuse. The couple had married on March 2, 2025, in Bengaluru's Uttarahalli, with Arshita's family gifting him 50 grams of gold jewellery.
Arshita moved into Dhanush's house in Hosakerehalli, but the situation soon soured. She alleged that her husband and in-laws' attitude changed, and they began demanding an additional dowry of Rs 8 lakh. When she conveyed her parents' inability to pay, she claims she was subjected to verbal abuse and humiliation.
Arshita also accused Dhanush Raj of infidelity. She stated that when she questioned him about it, he physically assaulted her and sent her back to her parents' home. Although this matter was reportedly settled at a panchayat, tensions resurfaced. Arshita mentioned that Dhanush stopped responding to her calls and messages after he travelled to Ahmedabad for work in November 2025.
