The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified its crackdown on the illegal demolition of heritage structures and poor sanitation in the walled city. Divisional Commissioner and JMC Administrator V Saravana Kumar conducted an on-ground inspection on Friday, covering areas from Ajmeri Gate to the Kishanpole zone, where several violations were detected.
Inspection Reveals Multiple Violations
During the visit, localities such as Nataniyon ka Rasta, Chaura Rasta, Ladi Walo ka Rasta, and Sokhiyon ka Rasta were found to have old heritage havelis being demolished without proper permissions. Expressing strong displeasure, the commissioner directed officials to take strict action under relevant rules to protect heritage structures and curb unauthorized demolition.
Sanitation Issues Flagged
The commissioner also flagged the presence of garbage, debris, and plastic waste in the narrow lanes of the walled city. He ordered immediate improvement in sanitation and directed concerned officials to ensure cleanliness on a priority basis.
Officials Present During Inspection
JMC officials, including Additional Commissioner Praveen Kumar, DTP Rajesh Sharma, and Deputy Commissioners Bijendra Singh and Seema Chaudhary, accompanied the commissioner during the inspection. The commissioner instructed them to act firmly against all illegal constructions in the heritage zone.
Property Sealed After Violation
Following the inspection, a property at house number 1745 in Ladi Walo ka Rasta was sealed on Saturday after an old haveli was demolished and construction began without approval. Authorities confirmed that multiple notices had been issued earlier, but the violations continued.
