Jimmy Kimmel Backlash Over Melania Trump Comments, FCC Reviews

Jimmy Kimmel has once again faced criticism for his recent remarks about Melania Trump, made shortly before an assassination attempt at a White House event. While Melania Trump, President Donald Trump, and numerous politicians publicly condemned him, Kimmel responded through his show, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'.

Jimmy Kimmel's Comments on Donald Trump Following Backlash

A few days ago, television host Jimmy Kimmel went viral after commenting that the First Lady had a 'glow like an expectant widow.' Shortly after, a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents Association dinner. The Trump administration, along with many politicians and netizens, called out Kimmel's comments. In a subsequent episode, Kimmel addressed the situation, saying, 'Our first couple, Donald and Melania, who lately have seemed closer than ever — and I like to think I played a part in that.' He then played a video of the Trumps briefly holding hands before letting go, adding, 'The hands say so much.'

Kimmel continued, 'You know what? Considering the week I’ve had with the first couple, I’m just gonna say that is a completely normal way to interact for two people who are very much in love. Maybe that’s why his hands are all bruised - from Melania swatting them away.'

FCC Orders License Review for 8 TV Channels

Following the backlash over Kimmel's comment about Melania Trump ahead of the White House shooting, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has ordered approximately eight TV channels to undergo a license review, which was originally scheduled for October 2028. The television provider that hosts 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' is among those included in the list.

Previous Show Cancellation

This is not the first time the Trump administration has taken action against Kimmel. Last year, after his comment about Charlie Kirk's passing drew significant backlash, his show was taken off the air for a few days. However, many rallied against the move, citing freedom of speech. After a few days, Kimmel's show returned and recorded millions of viewers nationwide.
