Jason Momoa Sets R-Rated Condition for Solo Lobo Movie in DC Universe
Jason Momoa Demands R-Rated Solo Lobo Movie

Jason Momoa has made it clear that he has one non-negotiable condition for any potential solo Lobo movie in the DC Universe. The actor, who portrays the violent bounty hunter in the upcoming film 'Supergirl', told Deadline that he does not want the character to be softened for a broader audience. Momoa stated that he would be willing to return if DC Studios wants him, but he insists that a standalone Lobo film must carry an R rating to preserve the comic book character's rough edge.

Jason Momoa Wants an R-Rated Lobo Movie

According to Deadline, Momoa made these remarks while discussing his future in the DC franchise following 'Supergirl'. The outlet highlighted that he has long aspired to play Lobo, a role that fans had associated with him for years before DC Studios officially cast him in the film.

“If they want me, I’ll be there,” Momoa said. “But if I make a solo movie, I’m not doing it unless it’s R-rated.”

Momoa was straightforward about his expectations for the project. “This is all I want,” he said, referring to an adult-oriented Lobo movie. His comments underscore the challenge of bringing the character known as the Main Man to the screen while maintaining his loud, violent, and unruly comic book identity.

Lobo's Role Follows Jason Momoa’s Aquaman Run

Momoa previously played Arthur Curry in 'Aquaman' and 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' before the new DC Universe began under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran. His casting as Lobo gives him a fresh role in the franchise, separate from his former superhero character.

'Supergirl' stars Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El. The film also features Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills. Momoa appears as Lobo, the alien bounty hunter known in DC Comics for his brute force, dark humor, and love of chaos.

Momoa has spoken for years about his fondness for the character. When his casting was announced, he shared an old quote about Lobo and wrote, “They called.” In that earlier comment, he said, “I collect comics,” and called Lobo “always my favorite.”

DC Studios has not yet announced a solo Lobo movie. For now, Momoa’s next step as the character begins with 'Supergirl', which opens the door for future appearances.
