A daring theft took place in Kolkata's Gulshan Colony area under Anandapur police station on Tuesday. A handcrafted pouch containing gold and silver ornaments was stolen through a window of a residence, leaving the family shocked.
Details of the Incident
The victim, Shabina Khatoon (32), along with her family, was asleep when the incident occurred. They had kept a bag near the window, which contained items required for a trip to Bihar for a family event. The thief managed to sneak in through the window and made off with the bag, which contained valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
Stolen Items
The stolen ornaments include a 20-gram gold chain, a gold pendant, a 10-gram gold chain with a pendant, three pairs of gold earrings weighing over 12 grams, five gold nose pins, a silver anklet, and seven silver rings. In addition to these, the thief also took other ornaments and some clothes.
Police Investigation
Upon receiving the complaint, the police have registered a case and started a probe into the matter. They are examining the scene of the crime and questioning neighbors to gather clues about the suspect.
This incident highlights the need for increased security measures in residential areas. Residents are advised to keep windows locked, especially at night, and to avoid keeping valuables near open windows.
