Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency Over Health Struggles

Fans of Dolly Parton were eagerly anticipating her upcoming Las Vegas residency, but they will now have to wait longer as the iconic singer has canceled the shows due to ongoing health challenges. The 80-year-old country music legend shared the news in a video message on social media, explaining that while she is on the road to recovery, her medications and treatments leave her feeling lightheaded, making it difficult to perform with her signature energy and elaborate costumes.

Health Update: Good News and Bad News

In her video, Dolly Parton began by sharing both good and bad news regarding her health. The good news, she said, is that she is responding well to her medications and treatments and is improving every day. However, the bad news is that it will take some time before she is ready to return to the stage. She explained that some of the medications make her dizzy, or as she put it, "swimmy-headed," which is not ideal for carrying banjos, guitars, and wearing five-inch heels and heavy rhinestone outfits.

"I can't be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on five-inch heels. And you know that I'm going to be wearing them. Not to mention all those heavy rhinestone outfits, the big hair, my big personality. Lord, that would make anybody swimmy-headed," she joked.

A Message to Fans

Expressing her regret, Parton said, "I am truly sorry that I'm going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get on to Vegas, and you have a big time." She added that she hopes fans might come to New York to see her show in the future. The singer also thanked her supporters for their concern during a difficult year following the death of her husband, Carl Dean. She noted that the love and support from fans were a big part of her healing.

"Lord, my house and my porch looked like the botanical gardens with all the flowers, and my den looked like the post office with all the cards and letters. So yes, from the bottom of my heart, I thank you. You have been a big part of my healing," she said.

Health Struggles and Recovery

Parton revealed that her immune and digestive systems had been "all out of whack over the past couple, three years," and doctors are working hard to rebuild and strengthen them. Despite her health issues, she remains positive and humorous, comparing herself to an old classic car that needs restoration. She joked about needing to rebuild her engine, fix her transmission, and change her spark plugs, adding, "I know I'm still crazy, but they didn't mention nothing about my mental health."

On a serious note, she emphasized the importance of a happy heart, saying, "They say that a happy heart is like good medicine." She also confirmed that she is still working, focusing on writing, recording, and her Broadway musical.

Looking Ahead

While the Las Vegas residency is on hold, Parton remains optimistic about her recovery and future performances. She encouraged fans to continue supporting her and promised to see them "somewhere down the line." The singer's resilience and humor have endeared her to millions, and her fans are sure to wait patiently for her return to the stage.
