CRPF Constable Arrested for Raping Woman for 22 Years

Berhampur: Police on Wednesday arrested a CRPF constable for allegedly raping a 45-year-old woman repeatedly over the past several years on the pretext of marrying her. The accused was identified as G Ayodi Reddy (41), a resident of Dakhinapur village under Ganjam district’s Digapahandi police station limits. He was serving as a constable in the 12th Battalion of the CRPF at Nabarangpur.

Details of the Case

According to police, the victim had been waiting to marry the accused, while he went ahead and married someone else approximately five years ago. The relationship between the victim and the accused dated back to 2003. The accused allegedly raped her multiple times when she was alone at home and also at various other locations during this period.

Recent Incidents

The most recent rape occurred on May 20, 2025, at a lodge. In December 2025, the accused refused to marry her and allegedly abused her. On April 5, the accused’s wife also verbally abused the woman over the phone and threatened to ensure that her husband would end all contact with her.

Police registered a case on April 26, 2026, based on the victim’s complaint. After completing all formalities, including medical examinations and recording of statements, the accused was arrested.
