Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi has expressed his heartfelt condolences on the demise of legendary Tamil filmmaker Bharathiraja, who passed away earlier this morning on Wednesday. The actor also reminisced about his time working with the veteran director on the 1987 Telugu romantic musical drama 'Aradhana', which remains their sole collaboration.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Chiranjeevi described the loss as that of 'one of its greatest storytellers.' He praised Bharathiraja's unique filmmaking style that beautifully projected rural stories, touching millions of hearts. 'Indian cinema has lost one of its greatest storytellers, #Bharathiraja garu. He transformed the fragrance of village soil, the beauty of human relationships, the innocence of love, and the emotions of ordinary people into timeless cinematic poetry. His films touched millions of hearts and inspired generations of filmmakers,' Chiranjeevi wrote.

The actor also highlighted Bharathiraja's illustrious career, which earned him the Padma Shri and several National Film Awards.

Recalling their collaboration, Chiranjeevi shared, 'I was fortunate to work under his direction as an actor in Aradhana. Chiranjeevi's brother, Tollywood star and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, also paid tribute. 'The passing of the renowned legendary film director and Padma Shri awardee Shri Bharathiraja garu is an irreplaceable loss to the Indian film industry,' he wrote.
