Candace Owens Sued for Defamation by Charlie Kirk's Ex-Security Chief
Candace Owens Sued by Charlie Kirk's Ex-Security Chief

A fresh legal battle has pulled Candace Owens back into the spotlight, this time over claims tied to the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's killing. The lawsuit, filed by his former security chief, signals a shift from online clashes to a courtroom fight, where words spoken in public are now being tested under law.

At the center of the case is Brian Harpole, who was part of Kirk's security team on the day of the fatal shooting. His complaint accuses Owens of pushing claims that, he argues, crossed from opinion into damaging falsehood. The dispute now raises larger questions about accountability in the age of viral commentary.

Candace Owens Defamation Lawsuit: Claims and Key Allegations

Harpole's legal filing does not hold back. It accuses Owens of "falsely accusing Brian Harpole of conspiring to assassinate Charlie Kirk." The complaint argues that such claims were not isolated remarks but part of a broader pattern that amplified conspiracy theories following the incident.

It further states, "Owens is the most high profile spreader of baseless Charlie Kirk conspiracy theories, but she is not the only one. Her actions have encouraged and emboldened and otherwise given cover to other people to jump on the Charlie Kirk conspiracy bandwagon." According to the filing, these statements have harmed Harpole's professional standing and caused significant emotional strain.

One key point centers on a claim about Harpole's alleged presence at a military base before the incident. The lawsuit counters this directly, noting, "The claim that Harpole was present at Fort Huachuca on September 9, 2025, for an alleged meeting is verifiably false—as Harpole's travel records plainly place him in Dallas, Texas. There would also be records showing Harpole's access to the base."

Candace Owens Responds as Charlie Kirk Case Continues

Owens has not stayed silent. Addressing the lawsuit publicly, she questioned the process behind it and said, "How curious." She added, "What do you mean? You never communicated with me. You never spoke. You never issued any sort of retraction demand. You never answered me when I reached out. This is not at all how it normally goes. I'm pretty accustomed to how lawsuits work."

She also pushed back on claims about reputational harm, writing online, "It's certainly an interesting claim that Brian Harpole is losing clients/contracts because of me—and not like, you know, how his last job ended."

As the legal case unfolds, the broader investigation into Kirk's killing remains active. With new forensic questions still under review, both the courtroom dispute and the criminal case continue to develop side by side, keeping public attention fixed on a story that is far from settled.
