Bombay Times, in collaboration with M by AU Small Finance Bank, hosted a unique Mother's Day event titled Bombay Times Life.Styled Club Mahjong & Mocha on May 10. The afternoon was designed as a refreshing digital detox, combining strategy, conversation, and mindful leisure. Guests bonded over steaming cups of mocha while immersing themselves in the growing excitement around Mahjong.
An Afternoon of Connection and Fun
As colorful tiles moved across tables and laughter filled the room, both first-timers and seasoned players engaged deeply with the game. What began as curiosity quickly evolved into animated discussions, shared victories, and unexpected friendships. The event provided a perfect platform for social bonding and mental stimulation.
Participant Experiences
Vinny Jain Verdia, a happiness coach, attended with her younger sister and described the experience as both mentally stimulating and emotionally fulfilling. She said, "This was super engrossing. It exercised my brain, and I loved the experience. I was there with my younger sister; I am almost like a mother figure to her. Mahjong required a lot of brain work. This kind of brain exercise is much needed."
Arielle Noronha, a PR consultant, highlighted the social aspect: "I played Mahjong for the first time and really enjoyed learning it. We were all strangers at the table when we started, but soon there was a real connection. It is such a lovely way to bond with people."
Zarna Sheth, who had some prior familiarity with Mahjong, enjoyed helping newcomers. "I was still learning myself, but it was very interesting to teach someone else. There were many beginners, and it was lovely watching them get excited while learning. On Mother's Day, I felt like I found two daughters there," she shared.
