Bill Gates Maintains He Never Visited Jeffrey Epstein's Private Island
Tech billionaire and philanthropist Bill Gates has consistently stated that he never set foot on Jeffrey Epstein's private Caribbean island, where the late financier committed numerous sex crimes. However, a recently uncovered trove of emails from the U.S. Department of Justice reveals a persistent, multi-year effort by Epstein to attract Gates and his family members to the controversial destination.
Four-Year Campaign to Lure Gates Through Adviser Boris Nikolic
The correspondence, spanning from 2011 to 2014, shows that Epstein made a concerted and strategic push to bring Gates into his orbit. This effort was primarily channeled through Boris Nikolic, who served as a key science adviser at Gates' venture firm and maintained an enduring personal friendship with Epstein that extended far beyond professional or philanthropic matters.
The emails expose explicit discussions between Nikolic and Epstein that included the exchange of nude photography, evaluations of women's attractiveness, and conversations about Gates' preferences and prospects with potential companions. Nikolic frequently acted as an intermediary, coordinating meetings between Gates and Epstein and occasionally referencing Epstein's ability to connect Gates with women.
Direct Invitation and Family References
In December 2014, Epstein bypassed Nikolic and wrote directly to Gates, extending a holiday invitation to the island. "Many interesting people visiting the island over holidays. Of course you and your family are welcome... Women that Melinda might take comfort with," Epstein wrote, mentioning Eva and Kathy Ruemmler. Notably, Ruemmler recently announced her resignation as Goldman Sachs Group's top lawyer due to her connections with Epstein.
Other email threads highlight the casual yet disturbing nature of the Epstein-Nikolic relationship. In October 2011, after Epstein told Nikolic to "Wish bill a happy birthday," Nikolic responded, "I forwarded him your email and told him that we are sending him a big cake with stripers inside," likely misspelling "strippers." Daily conversations ranged from requests for "nude or semi nude" photos of "hot girls" at the island to discussions about massages with "happy endings."
Gates' Downplayed Relationship and Nikolic's Shocking Role
Since his ties to Epstein became public in 2019, Gates has worked diligently to minimize the perception of their relationship. A spokesperson for Gates stated, "Gates was not aware of the correspondence between Nikolic and Epstein," and emphasized that Gates never interacted with any of Epstein's victims. The spokesperson also noted that Gates avoided direct communication with Epstein due to discomfort expressed by his then-wife, Melinda Gates.
Boris Nikolic, who did not respond to requests for comment for this article, was listed in 2019 as the backup executor of Epstein's will—a role he claimed left him "shocked." Publicly, Gates and Nikolic no longer appear to maintain any relationship, marking a clear distancing in the aftermath of the Epstein scandal.
Fresh Insights into Gates' Inner Circle
These documents provide unprecedented insight into the private discussions occurring within Gates' circle over a decade ago. They reveal how Epstein leveraged personal connections to infiltrate elite networks, using intermediaries like Nikolic to bridge gaps with high-profile figures such as Gates.
The emails underscore the challenges faced by public figures in managing associations with controversial individuals, even when direct involvement is denied. As the legal and social repercussions of the Epstein case continue to unfold, these records add a new layer of complexity to the narrative surrounding one of the world's most prominent tech leaders.
