Actor Ajith Kumar has been balancing two major passions in recent years: cinema and professional motorsport. Following the success of 'Good Bad Ugly,' directed by Adhik Ravichandran, Ajith shifted much of his focus towards racing and participated in several international events with his own racing team. In addition, talks related to his next movie, titled 'AK 64,' have attracted much attention from fans and the industry. Recent reports about his remuneration and the delay in his next project have become a major talking point.
Ajith's 'AK 64' Salary Rumours Clarified
Recent reports claimed that Ajith had agreed to reduce his remuneration from around Rs 163 crore to Rs 150 crore for his next project. However, an industry source has now claimed that the narrative surrounding a salary cut is being misunderstood. In an exclusive chat with Etimes, the source stated that there is “not even one percent truth” to reports suggesting Ajith was forced to lower his fee due to market conditions. The clarification further claimed that 'AK 64' could not commence last December because of issues involving a producer's financial plans and investments linked to the theatrical rights of 'Jana Nayagan.' Sensing that such developments could affect the smooth progress of the project, Ajith reportedly chose to wait until the situation became clearer rather than rush into production.
Racing Schedule and Production Issues Reportedly Delayed the Film
The same source explained that Ajith had already locked his racing commitments well in advance. When the proposed shooting schedule for AK 64 failed to take off as planned, those dates reportedly went unused because of the production-related hurdles. According to the source, the delay had nothing to do with Ajith's interest in films or his commitment to the project. Instead, it was linked to practical concerns surrounding financing and scheduling. The source also dismissed social media discussions advising the actor to focus more on cinema, stating that Ajith has always maintained a clear plan for balancing both racing and acting.
An Alternative Deal Structure May Be Under Discussion
While speculation around remuneration continues, the industry source suggested that any revised deal, if it exists, may involve a different business arrangement rather than a straightforward salary reduction. On the basis of this claim, it appears that Ajith may be ready to accept a reduced payment for securing either digital rights or the right to screen the movie in certain parts of the world. This is a common practice in the industry and can prove beneficial for both the actors and the producers. As of now, there has been no official statement issued by Ajith or his representatives regarding the claims.
