Ahmedabad: Mukhtar Shah, a singer popularly known as the 'Voice of Mukesh', has filed a police complaint alleging that unidentified burglars broke into his office in Ellisbridge and stole gold jewellery, cash, foreign currency, and a DVR hard disk containing backup CCTV footage.

The complaint was lodged at Ellisbridge police station by Shah, 63, a resident of Juhapura who has been associated with singing performances for several decades.

On Monday morning, Shah said he received a voice message in the office association's WhatsApp group informing members that locks of several offices in the building had been broken, including his office. When he reached the premises, he found the locks and latch of the main entrance broken. The lock of the internal glass door and all seven drawer locks inside the office had also been damaged, the FIR states.

Stolen Items

Shah told police that the burglars stole two gold chains weighing about one tola each, a few gold rings, Rs 30,000 in cash, and foreign currency notes, including dollars, pounds, and euros, collected during his trips abroad over the years. He also alleged that the accused removed the hard disk from the DVR system linked to four CCTV cameras installed in the office, apparently to destroy evidence of the break-in.

Police said the total value of the stolen items was estimated at Rs 1.9 lakh.
