Four 15-year-old schoolgirls from Kolkata, who had been missing since April 21, were rescued from Old Delhi Railway Station by a special team of the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate. The teenagers, all students of class 9 from Lake Town and Dakshindari, had left home in their school uniforms but never reached their school.
Plan to Attend BTS Concert
According to police, the girls had planned to travel to South Korea to attend a concert by the globally popular K-pop group BTS. They had boarded a train to Delhi and arrived at New Delhi Railway Station, intending to continue their journey to Seoul. However, they carried only about Rs 16,000 among them and lacked passports.
Rescue Operation
After their disappearance, school authorities informed their families, and missing complaints were filed. Investigators tracked the girls to Delhi, where they had checked into a budget hotel and began planning their onward travel. As funds ran low, they started calling friends, which helped police locate them. On April 25, Government Railway Police intercepted them at Old Delhi Railway Station. They were later escorted back to Kolkata and reunited with their families.
This incident highlights the powerful influence of K-pop culture on young fans and the risks of impulsive decisions. Authorities urge parents to monitor their children's activities and discuss online influences.
