Upendra's '45' Sees Sharp Box Office Decline in Week 1

The Kannada action drama '45', starring powerhouses Shiva Rajkumar and Upendra, has experienced a notable decline in its box office performance after a promising start. Released on Christmas Day, the film has now completed its first week in theatres, with collections showing a steep fall from the opening weekend.

Week 1 Box Office Collections: A Steady Decline

According to trade reports, including data from Sacnilk, the film opened strongly on its first day, collecting an impressive Rs 5.5 crore. However, the numbers began to dip from the second day, Friday, which saw earnings of Rs 2 crore. Saturday brought in Rs 1.95 crore, followed by a slight uptick to Rs 2 crore on Sunday.

The real downturn began with the weekdays. Monday's collection plummeted to Rs 85 lakh, which further decreased to Rs 60 lakh on Tuesday. The most recent reported figure, for Wednesday, shows the film earning only Rs 42 lakh. This brings the estimated total collection for the first week to approximately Rs 13.32 crore.

Theatrical Occupancy and Audience Response

The overall Kannada occupancy for the film on Wednesday stood at 11.24%. The day began with a modest 7.83% occupancy for morning shows. This figure saw an increase during the afternoon, reaching 13.20%. Evening shows recorded an occupancy of 12.12%, while night shows had 11.79%.

About the Film '45'

Directed by Arjun Janya, who also composed the music and co-wrote the screenplay with Anil Kumar, '45' is a high-stakes action drama. The film features an ensemble cast led by Shiva Rajkumar and Upendra, with key performances from Raj B. Shetty, Kaustubha Mani, Jisshu Sengupta, Rajendran, and Pooja Ramachandra.

The film's journey at the box office will be closely watched in its second week to see if it can stabilize or attract more audiences through word-of-mouth. The significant drop from weekend to weekday collections presents a challenge for the film's long-term commercial performance.
