Superstar Prabhas has made a powerful return to the family entertainment genre with his latest release, The Raja Saab. Despite receiving a mixed response from critics, the film has stormed the box office, achieving a monumental worldwide collection on its opening day.
A Blockbuster Opening Day
According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, The Raja Saab enjoyed a robust start. The film garnered an impressive India net collection of ₹63.30 crore on day one. When considering the gross figures, the film earned approximately ₹74.90 crore from the Indian market alone.
The overseas audience contributed significantly, adding around ₹26.00 crore to the kitty. Combining all regions, the total worldwide earnings for the film's opening day reached an estimated ₹100.90 crore, successfully breaching the coveted ₹100 crore mark right out of the gate.
Makers Claim Even Higher Figures
The production house behind the film, People Media Factory, has announced an even larger number. Taking to social media platform X, they claimed that The Raja Saab has raked in over ₹112 crore globally on its first day. They celebrated this as a new benchmark and the biggest start ever for a horror fantasy film.
Fans of Prabhas erupted in celebration online. While many congratulated the actor on the "phenomenal start," some expressed that even higher numbers were possible, citing factors like ticket pricing and regional booking strategies.
How Does It Compare to Prabhas' Previous Films?
While The Raja Saab's opening is undoubtedly strong, it stands as one of the lower day-one collections in Prabhas' recent career. The film's collection pales in comparison to his last blockbuster, Kalki 2898 AD, which minted a staggering ₹191 crore on its first day.
Even his other major releases like Salaar and Adipurush managed to secure higher day-one revenues. This places The Raja Saab in a unique position—a commercially successful opener that still trails the actor's own massive benchmarks.
About The Raja Saab
Directed by Maruthi, the film features an ensemble cast including Prabhas, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani, Malavika Mohanan, and Nidhhi Agerwal. It is produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under the banner of People Media Factory. The film blends horror and fantasy elements, targeting a wide family audience.
Critical reception, however, has been less than kind. A review excerpt called the film a "terrible cliche" and even suggested it was worse than another big-budget film, Brahmāstra. Despite the critical panning, the audience turnout on day one proves Prabhas' unwavering box office pull.
The film's journey ahead will depend on word-of-mouth and its ability to hold audiences over the crucial first weekend. For now, The Raja Saab has firmly established itself as a major commercial player in the cinematic landscape.
