Superstar Prabhas' much-anticipated pan-India release, The Raja Saab, is inching closer to the coveted ₹100 crore mark in the domestic market. However, the film, directed by Maruthi, experienced a significant drop in its collections on its second day in theatres, following a massive opening.
Day 2 Box Office Numbers Show Decline
According to data from the industry tracker Sacnilk, The Raja Saab minted ₹27.83 crore net in India on its second day, Saturday, January 10, 2026. This represents a sharp decline of approximately 48.22% from its opening day figures.
The bulk of the day 2 revenue came from its Telugu original version, which contributed ₹22.38 crore. The Hindi-dubbed version added ₹5.2 crore, while the Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions together contributed ₹0.25 crore.
This comes after the film opened to a strong ₹53.75 crore net in India on its first day, Friday, January 9, 2026, despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike.
Pan-India Performance and Worldwide Figures
The two-day total net collection for The Raja Saab in India now stands at an impressive ₹90.73 crore. The gross collection from the Indian market is approximately ₹108.4 crore.
Adding the ₹30 crore garnered from overseas markets, the film's worldwide gross collection has reached ₹138.4 crore by the end of its second day.
Audience Occupancy Across Languages
The film's performance varied significantly across different linguistic markets on day 2:
Telugu Version: Recorded the highest overall occupancy at 44%. Occupancy grew through the day, starting at 28.95% in morning shows and peaking at 51.25% during night shows. Hyderabad led with 1,159 show screenings.
Tamil Version: Witnessed a modest overall occupancy of 21.11%. Chennai was the leading market with 68 shows and 35.50% occupancy.
Hindi Version: Remained the weakest, with an overall occupancy of only 12.95%. The Delhi NCR region had the highest number of screenings at 770.
Makers Respond with a New Version
The film, which also stars Sanjay Dutt, Nidhhi Agerwal, Malavika Mohanan, and Riddhi Kumar, faced criticism for its visual effects (VFX), lengthy runtime, and for omitting certain scenes that were featured in its promotional trailer.
In a swift response, director Maruthi held a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday. He announced that a revised version of the film would be released soon, incorporating an 8-9 minute episode that includes the missing scenes and a sharper second half.
"Keeping that in mind, I sat last evening to make the second half of the film sharper and include the missing scenes from the 6 PM show today. I am sure that the 8-9 minute episode will be mind-blowing. No film has depicted a fight scene taking place on the roof so far. Prabhas worked very hard for it," Maruthi stated, as per a Hindustan Times report.
All eyes are now on whether this strategic move and the film's strong initial momentum will help it sustain its box office run and cross major milestones in the coming days.
