Parasakthi Box Office Day 3: Film Faces Dip Amid Controversy

Actor Sivakarthikeyan's latest Tamil film, Parasakthi, encountered a significant drop in its box office earnings on the third day. Despite this decline, the movie maintains a strong hold in theaters across Tamil Nadu. The film's performance comes at a crucial time, just ahead of the state elections.

Industry tracker Sacnilk reports that Parasakthi collected approximately ₹3 crore net on Monday, which marks its third day in theaters. This figure represents a sharp decrease of about 70.30% from the previous day's collection. On Sunday, the film had earned an impressive ₹10.1 crore net.

Total Earnings and Regional Performance

With the day 3 numbers included, the total net collection for Parasakthi in India now stands at ₹25.6 crore. The film's success has been primarily driven by its exceptional performance in Tamil Nadu, its home state.

  • Day 1 (Saturday): The film opened with ₹15 crore nationwide. Tamil Nadu contributed a massive ₹12.4 crore to this total. Other regions added smaller amounts: Karnataka ₹1.9 crore, Kerala ₹0.4 crore, and the rest of India ₹0.29 crore.
  • Day 2 (Sunday): Collections dipped slightly to ₹11.9 crore. Tamil Nadu again led with ₹10.25 crore, while other states provided modest contributions.
  • Day 3 (Monday): The film earned ₹3.2 crore from Tamil Nadu alone, highlighting its continued dominance in the region despite the overall drop.

Competition from The Raja Saab

Meanwhile, Prabhas' film The Raja Saab has struggled to make an impact in Tamil Nadu. On its fourth day, the movie collected ₹6.6 crore net nationwide. However, its Tamil audience contributed only ₹7 lakh to this total, according to the same tracker.

Over the last five days, The Raja Saab has accumulated a total of ₹2.66 crore from Tamil Nadu. The film's performance in the state has shown a consistent downward trend:

  1. Paid previews: ₹0.28 crore
  2. Opening day: ₹1.41 crore
  3. Saturday: ₹0.45 crore
  4. Sunday: ₹0.40 crore
  5. Monday: ₹0.12 crore

Controversy and Release Details

Parasakthi has recently faced allegations regarding inaccurate historical facts in its narrative. These claims have sparked debates among audiences and critics alike. Despite the controversy, the film continues to attract viewers to theaters.

The movie received clearance from the Central Board of Film Certification and was officially released on 10 January 2026. Its strong box office performance, particularly in Tamil Nadu, suggests that the historical accuracy issues have not significantly deterred its core audience.

With negligible competition from The Raja Saab in the Tamil market, Parasakthi remains in a safe position at the box office. The film's ability to maintain dominance in its home state, even with the day 3 dip, underscores its popularity among Tamil cinema fans.
