Jatadhara Box Office Day 1: Sonakshi Sinha Film Earns Just Rs 90 Lakh
Jatadhara Box Office: Sonakshi Sinha Film Earns Rs 90 Lakh

Jatadhara Stumbles at Box Office With Disappointing Opening

The much-anticipated film Jatadhara, starring Sonakshi Sinha and Sudheer Babu, has gotten off to a disappointing start at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film managed to earn only Rs 90 lakh on its opening day on November 8, 2025, failing to cross the crucial Rs 1 crore mark that often indicates a film's potential success.

Poor Occupancy Rates Reflect Audience Disinterest

The film's struggle was evident from its occupancy rates, which averaged out at just 6.04% across India. The morning and afternoon shows recorded particularly poor attendance with rates of 5.17% and 4.67% respectively. While evening and night shows showed slight improvement with 5.99% and 9.67% occupancy, these numbers remain significantly below expectations for a mainstream Bollywood release featuring established stars.

Directed by Abhishek Jaiswal and Venkat Kalyan, Jatadhara had a decent theatrical presence with 500 Telugu shows and 490 Hindi shows across the country. However, the poor response from audiences suggests that neither Sonakshi Sinha's star power nor the film's marketing efforts were enough to draw viewers to theaters.

Continuing Rough Patch for Sonakshi Sinha

This marks another commercial disappointment for Sonakshi Sinha, whose previous theatrical release, Nikita Roy, directed by Kussh Sinha, earned just Rs 22 lakh on its opening day. That film managed to run for only two weeks in theaters, eventually collecting Rs 1.28 crore during its entire theatrical run.

For co-star Sudheer Babu, Jatadhara represents his first theatrical release of 2025. His previous film, Maa Nanna Superhero (2024), collected Rs 1.04 crore throughout its box office run, while Harom Hara: The Revolt earned Rs 3.7 crore during its theatrical engagement.

Tough Competition and Critical Reception

Jatadhara faces additional challenges from direct competition with The Girlfriend, directed by Rahul Ravindran and starring Rashmika Mandanna and Dheekshith Shetty. Released on the same day with almost the same number of shows, The Girlfriend earned Rs 1.3 crore on its opening day and has received significantly better reviews from critics and audiences alike.

The cast of Jatadhara includes notable actors such as Divya Khossla, Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, and Subalekha Sudhakar alongside the lead pair. However, with poor reviews already affecting its performance and low occupancy rates indicating weak word-of-mouth, industry experts predict Jatadhara will find it difficult to sustain its theatrical run in the coming weeks.
