Jatadhara Box Office Day 1: A Disappointing ₹0.95 Cr Start for Sinha's Telugu Debut
Jatadhara Box Office Day 1: Fails to Cross ₹1 Cr

Jatadhara Stumbles at the Box Office on Opening Day

The much-anticipated Tollywood supernatural thriller, Jatadhara, has made a disappointing debut at the domestic box office. Headlined by Sudheer Babu and marking the Telugu cinema debut of Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, the film failed to cross the crucial ₹1 crore mark on its first day in theatres, Friday, November 7.

Breaking Down the Day 1 Collection Figures

According to data from film industry tracker Sacnilk, Jatadhara managed to mint a mere ₹0.95 crore net in India. The film, which targeted both Hindi and Telugu-speaking audiences, showed a stark contrast in its performance across the two markets. While its Telugu collection dominated the earnings, the Hindi viewership remained notably low, contributing very little to the overall total.

The occupancy rates further highlighted this divide. The mystic thriller registered an overall 17.24% occupancy for its Telugu shows. In a clear sign of its struggle to connect with the pan-India audience, the Hindi screenings recorded a drastically lower overall occupancy of just 6.40% on its opening day.

About the Film and Its Cast

Produced by Ess Kay Gee Entertainment, Sudheer Babu Productions, and Zee Studios, Jatadhara is directed by Abhishek Jaiswal and Venkat Kalyan. The film premiered in theatres on November 7. Besides the lead pair of Sudheer Babu and Sonakshi Sinha, the star cast features seasoned actors like Shilpa Shirodkar, Indira Krishnan, Ravi Prakash, Rajeev Kanakala, and Subhalekha Sudhakar in key roles.

As per its IMDb description, the plot of the action-adventure fantasy mystery investigates “the enigma of Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple, examining myths and theories about its alleged supernatural powers.” Despite its intriguing premise and notable cast, the film has failed to impress the audience initially, leading to a lukewarm response at the box office.
