Kaantha's Box Office Momentum Slows Dramatically
Dulquer Salmaan's recent cinematic offering 'Kaantha' is experiencing a substantial decline in audience turnout as it approaches the conclusion of its second week in theaters. The film, which opened with considerable anticipation, has now recorded a noticeable drop in daily collections, indicating waning viewer interest.
Detailed Box Office Performance Analysis
According to data compiled from industry sources, 'Kaantha' has accumulated a worldwide total of Rs 34.77 crores by its 12th day of theatrical run. The breakdown reveals that the film earned Rs 22.27 crores as India net and Rs 26.32 crores as India gross. International markets contributed Rs 8.45 crores from overseas audiences.
The performance metrics show a concerning trend, with recent days generating collections in lakhs rather than crores, signaling the film's diminishing appeal among moviegoers.
Regional Market Performance Dips
The Tamil version of 'Kaantha', which initially drove the film's commercial success, has witnessed a visible downturn in collections. By Day 11, the Tamil Nadu market had contributed Rs 15.52 crores to the overall earnings, but the subsequent days have shown reduced numbers.
Similarly, the Telugu adaptation has underperformed, managing to gather only Rs 6.75 crores until Day 11 of its theatrical run. The slowdown in these crucial regional markets has significantly impacted the film's overall financial performance.
Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, 'Kaantha' features Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role alongside prominent co-stars including Rana Daggubati, Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, and Bijesh Nagesh. Critical reception noted that the film embraces classical storytelling mechanics rather than attempting to subvert established conventions.
Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan continues to maintain his presence in the industry, having recently appeared in a cameo role in the action film 'Lokah' as the character Odiyan. The actor is now preparing for his next project under Nahas Hidhayath's direction titled 'I'm Game'.
