The Malayalam comedy action drama 'Bha. Bha. Ba.', headlined by actor Dileep, is experiencing a turbulent run at the box office. The film, which opened to a robust commercial performance, has witnessed a significant downturn in its financial collections as it entered its second week in theatres.
Steep Decline in Second Week Collections
According to data from trade analyst Sacnilk, 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' amassed an impressive Rs 20.9 crore during its first week. However, the momentum sharply reversed thereafter. The decline began on its 9th day, with collections falling to Rs 65 lakh. The weekend provided little respite, with the film earning Rs 45 lakh on Saturday and a slightly better Rs 55 lakh on Sunday.
The weekdays proved even more challenging. The movie managed only Rs 20 lakh on Monday and repeated the same figure on its 13th day. The situation reached a concerning point on Wednesday, marking the film's 14th day in theatres, when it recorded its lowest single-day collection of just Rs 15 lakh. This poor performance in the second week means the film's earnings failed to cross the Rs 1 crore mark even over the weekend. The total domestic collection now stands at approximately Rs 23.10 crore.
Low Theatre Occupancy Reflects Waning Interest
The dip in box office revenue is directly mirrored in the theatre occupancy rates. On its second Wednesday, 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' registered an overall Malayalam occupancy of only 7.94%. The day's viewership showed inconsistent trends:
- Morning Shows: Started at a mere 4%.
- Afternoon Shows: Saw an increase to 10.82%.
- Evening Shows: Dropped again to 5.07%.
- Night Shows: Recorded the highest at 11.87%.
This pattern indicates a lack of strong audience pull, especially during prime daytime and evening slots, which is critical for a film's sustained success.
About the Film and Its Star-Studded Cast
Directed by Dhananjay Shankar, 'Bha. Bha. Ba.' presents a high-stakes political thriller narrative. The plot centers on a mysterious vigilante known as "The Commoner" who orchestrates the kidnapping of Kerala's Chief Minister, C.K. Joseph, during a public address. Dileep leads an ensemble cast that includes notable names such as Mohanlal, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Balu Varghese, Saranya Ponvannan, and Redin Kingsley.
The film's initial buzz, driven by its premise and star power, has evidently not translated into lasting box office stamina. Industry observers are now keenly watching to see if it can stabilize in the coming days or if the downward trend will continue.
