Ranveer Singh's high-octane spy film Dhurandhar is scripting box office history, as it stands on the cusp of dethroning the global phenomenon RRR. On its 33rd day in theatres, the Aditya Dhar directorial continues its phenomenal run and is now set to become the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film of all time.
A Historic Box Office Milestone
According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, Dhurandhar added an impressive Rs 4.75 crore to its kitty on Tuesday, January 6. This has pushed its total domestic nett collection to a staggering Rs 781.75 crore. This domestic figure has already allowed the film to overtake the India nett collection of SS Rajamouli's RRR (Rs 782.2 crore), securing the fourth position on the all-time India charts, right behind KGF Chapter 2.
Global Domination: The RRR Surpass
The film's worldwide conquest is even more remarkable. After Monday, Dhurandhar's global gross stood at Rs 1,214.4 crore. It is now merely Rs 15.6 crore away from surpassing the worldwide collection of RRR, which is estimated at Rs 1,230 crore. Once it crosses this threshold, Dhurandhar will officially claim the title of the fourth-highest-grossing Indian film globally, trailing only behind the mammoth Pushpa 2: The Rule (2024).
The film's staying power is evident when compared to RRR's performance at the same stage. While Dhurandhar earned Rs 4.75 crore on its 33rd day, RRR had collected only about Rs 90 lakh on its corresponding day, highlighting the former's unprecedented hold over audiences even after a month in cinemas.
Road Ahead and Future Clashes
The spy actioner, which also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal, might see some competition with the release of Jana Nayagan and The Raja Saab on January 9. However, within the Bollywood landscape, Dhurandhar is not expected to face a major box office clash until the much-anticipated Border 2 arrives on January 23.
The excitement for the franchise is far from over. The sequel, Dhurandhar: Part 2, is already scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, promising to continue the high-stakes espionage saga. For now, the team and fans are celebrating a monumental achievement that cements Dhurandhar's place in the annals of Indian cinema.
